Several Laurelton and AJHS reunions over the years (in NY and Fla.), have kept the flame burning as I catch up with old friends and memories. I am a dentist and I have 2 grown daughters and 5 grandchildren. I have been married for 45 years to my wife, Carole. I lived on 228th Street until 1969 when I married and moved to New Jersey. I've reconnected with two Laurelton friends right here in Wellington. I went to the Junior High on Springfield Blvd, I think the number is 59, for the 9th grade. Some of the people I knew ( can't remember some last names ) were Yvette, Wilma, Eileen Arshansky, Lynette Brown, Marcia or Marsha Eisenberg (from Rosedale). I was also friends with a guy named Howard Levine who lived on the same street as me. I went to PS 176 and then the school system divided kids into the dumb ones and the smart ones. I am looking for pictures and friends from Laurelton and Rosedale from 1956 - 1971. I also worked for a Hardware Store from 1965 to 1969 on Saturdays. Not many Laurelton folks will remember me, as I did not attend local schools for grades 7-12. Would love to hear from the old LYAG/ATID crowd from LJC in late '60s. Living in Wheeling, IL - a Chicago suburb 1960 AJHS graduate. As anyone posting at this wonderful site knows, Laurelton will be in our hearts forever. At lunchtime the girls played records in the cafeteria and we'd dance to the tunes of the 60's as the guys would play ping pong and pool and who would steal glances at us while we danced. It would have been nice if the "block busters" had not raped Laurelton and some of our friends and families still lived there. I've been living in California more than half my life, now, but I'm still a Yankee fan and a lover of NY pizza. I've lived in Israel for the last 35 years and have been a "Lubavitcher" (Chabad) for the past 23, and have a big, beautiful family of kids and grandkids. Retired, with (3) horses, (1) border collie, (25) plains bison and a horse farm on the north fork of Long Island. I became active in race-walking in the late 1990s (I was never a physical education aficionado back in AJHS! My kids still don't seem to understand the way it was. I was in ADG and we were close with many fraternities. I have an older sister, Janet Breitman and we're still in touch with Margy and Judy Lesk. We moved to Laurelton in 1949 and lived at 133-08 234th Street. Met a woman of 80 who lived in Laurelton, went to P. 156, graduated from AJHS, and then, like me, went to Queens College, got a doctorate at CUNY and wound up teaching at San Diego State University! Just the other day, a new friend told me his father is a Shakespeare scholar (I'm a theater critic) and that he taught English for years -- at Andrew Jackson HS!! Looking at all those photos brought back a flood of memories. Eating once a week at The House Of Chang and Capri and standing in line on Sunday mornings at the Four Star Bakery and the deli. My family moved to Eastchester in 1958, so I missed going to Jackson or Far Rockaway. , Woolworth's, Bert & Dave's, the Depot, Library, and so many other places and things, I'm struck by how much this place was so important to us because we spent our childhoods there. I lived in Laurelton until the 9th grade and then moved to Rockville Centre. I remember House of Change, Laurelton Movies, The Riveria Italian Restarant, The Bagel Store, The Greasy Spoon Dinner, Sherry's Bakery (I worked there.) So many good memories of my childhood.
